Project Title: How Many Apples Does It Take? Quantifying PM2.5’s Oxidative Stress Impact with Spectrophotometry
and FTIR (Spoiler: It’s More Than You’d Eat in a Day!)
How many apples would it take to counteract the oxidative stress caused by PM2.5 air
pollution? This project tackles that question by analyzing the oxidative potential
of PM2.5 particles and comparing it to the antioxidant power of apples.

Project Title: From Adversity to Healthy Aging: Examining ACEs and Well-Being in Older Alaskans
Studying the beliefs and behaviors of older adults is critical to public health and
well-being. The first step in designing health interventions is understanding the
factors contributing to poor health. This project will examine the complex relationship
between negative childhood events and healthy aging.
