Visiting scholar sessions for UAF instructors
Kevin Gannon is the director of the Center for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence and professor of history at Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. He is the author of Radical Hope: A Teaching Manifesto (West Virginia University Press, 2020), and his writing has also appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Vox, CNN, and The Washington Post. In 2016, he appeared in the Oscar-nominated documentary 13th, directed by Ava DuVernay.
Gannon will offer three programs for UAF instructors on Feb. 26-27:
- "A White Guy’s Road to Decolonial Pedagogy” on Feb. 26 from 4:30-6 p.m. (Zoom and in-person)
- “Mattering is Motivation: Humanizing Teaching and Learning in the classroom and online" on Feb. 26 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. (Zoom and in-person)
- "Finding Our Agency, Naming our Practices" on Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (in-person)
